SYJO Director, Stewart
Forbes, has been a professional musician and
educator for almost 30 years and is jazz module leader at the University
of Strathclyde’s famous BA in Applied Music course. As well as
being a founder member of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, and artistic
director of the Scottish Composers Jazz Ensemble, Stewart has appeared
with most of the leading Scottish Orchestras such as the BBC SSO, Scottish
Opera and RSNO. Stewart has recorded and appeared with (among others)
The BBC Big Band, Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Randy Crawford and George
Shearing. In musical theatre, Stewart has performed in Phantom
of the Opera, Les Miserables, CATS, My Fair Lady, Singing’ in the
Rain, 42nd Street and Me and My Girl.
Stewart’s solo debut album entitled ‘High
Five’ was released in February 2010, and features the vibrant sound
of Stewart’s alto saxophone with several prominent Scottish jazz
pianists including David Newton.

Spowart, one of Scotland’s most experienced
professional musicians. For the past 30 years, Gavin has worked as a
professional trumpet player performing with (among many others) the Eric
Delaney Band, the Northern Dance Orchestra (for Elton John's 50th birthday
party), and the New Squadronaires (Lead Trumpet for Bob Hope, Royal Albert
Hall Concert). He has toured with numerous celebrities including Matt
Monroe, Gene Pitney and Frankie Vaughan and survived 3 years with Freddie
Starr! His television work includes Royal Command Performances, Live
at the London Palladium and Wogan and current work includes touring with
his long time friend, Joe Longthorne and Tony Christie and The Rat Pack. |
